Biography
It’s been over 25 years since I released “57” on Parasol Records, which received some good reviews, including 3 1/2 out of 4 stars by the Chicago Tribune. Since then, I’ve helped build a family, received Bachelor and Master Degrees in English and a Law Degree. I also found interest in studying family history. A few years ago, my kids and I were listening to some of my old recordings, and I told them about a part of my story. As I told my kids about recording and playing live, I started to realize that I didn’t want something I released when I was in my early 20s to be the last word passed down to my children, grandchildren and future generations. My wife purchased some recording software and a microphone for me, and I embarked on recording some newer songs that were representative of my current stage in life. I never stopped writing songs. I wanted to record songs that breathe that are honest, bare and timeless. I used my 12 string and harmonicas and got to work. Back before I went on hiatus 25 years ago, I owned a recording studio with my brother where I recorded and produced my own music and the music of other bands, some of whom went on to work with Major Record Labels. I found my ability to record back then made it possible for me to harness new technology to get strong sounding results today. I cut some songs and released a free ten song album in 2012 called "The Gift of the Middle,” which helped me gain a decent following of over 200,000 followers on Twitter @whittywhitesell as well as significant traffic to my website. People seemed to appreciate my new material, so I decided to record another record. "Passion of a Seasoned Rookie" was released in 2016 and included 11 songs. The music industry has experienced a revolution in the past 25 years. Most aspects of this revolution benefit independent artists. With my understanding of recording and producing music, along with my legal education and social media and marketing experience, I realized I was sort of the ultimate “do it yourself” music artist. I learned video filming and editing and created several music videos which were promoted on social media, and I created my own website. I released a full production single in September of 2019 called “Choose Your Chains,” where I played all the instruments. Most recently, I have been learning how to reach out to radio stations to bring my music to a broader audience. Remembering a conversation I had with a radio promoter back in 2016, I decided to take his advice and record a Christmas Song. I just finished recording a new song called "Our Christmas Truce" and produced a music video, both to be released on November 29, 2019. I feel “Our Christmas Truce” is very much of the time, as people all over the United States and the UK feel uneasy about seeing old friends and family members over the holidays who have different views regarding Impeachment and Brexit. “Our Christmas Truce” remembers the unofficial Christmas Truces which occurred along the Western Front during World War I and how we could use a little of that this Christmas. If you have any questions or if I can help you in anyway, please contact me. Thank you for your time! I sincerely appreciate it! All the Best, Whitty Whitesell

"Radio Creds" are votes awarded to artists by radio programmers who have downloaded their music and have been impressed with the artist's professionalism and the audience's response to the new music. Creds help artists advance through the AirPlay Direct community.

Only radio accounts may add a Radio Cred. One week after the track has been downloaded the radio account member will receive an email requesting a Cred for each artist they've downloaded.
