Biography
Following in the tradition of great male-female duets like George Jones and Tammy Wynette, Gillian Welch and David Rawlings, and Emmylou Harris and Gram Parsons, John and Cathy Cadley show how two voices blended in seamless harmony can produce one powerful sound.

John began his professional career at age 18 with the Glencoves, a 1960’s folk group that had a national Top 40 hit with the song “Hootenanny. ” He has also been a touring road musician out of Nashville, and his songs have been recorded by national bluegrass artists such as Tony Trischka, Jim Hurst, Missy Raines, Amy Gallatin, Richard Kiser, the International Guitar Duo, Dede Wyland, and Lou Reid, who took John’s song, “Time,” to the #1 spot on the national bluegrass charts for three consecutive months.

Cathy discovered a passion for the guitar at age 11 when she began taking guitar lessons from her uncle, international touring singer/songwriter Ed Hamell. Since then she’s studied a variety of genres, including classical, jazz, flatpicking bluegrass, and clawhammer banjo. One of the highlights of a Cadleys concert is seeing the audience response when Cathy breaks from her soulful singing—developed over 20 years as a church musician—to deliver a sizzling acoustic guitar solo.

In short, The Cadleys consistently deliver what people go to live concerts for: great audience rapport, powerful vocals, and solid musicianship.
