Biography
Founded in 2007, Richmond, Virginia based blues band, The Bush League is still hard to pin down stylistically. North Mississippi Hill Country Blues rooted, but in meshing soul, gospel, funk, rock and even a tad bit of country, the band simply prefers to call it’s music RVA Blues.

Returning to the core of the original band and playing for the first time officially as a trio, The Bush League draws upon the gospel and soul roots of lead singer, JohnJason Cecil, the consistent and expressive funkiness of Royce Folks on bass, and the country blues tinged rock of Shane Parch on guitar to define its style,

With 7 appearances at the International Blues Challenge in Memphi, TN (3 semifinals), The Bush League has embraced the independence of having its own unique sound. As an unsigned band, surround by a small team of friends who have become family, being and independent band has meant not just earning the respect of peers, but earning every fan, every gig and every opportunity through hard work, dedication, sacrifice, tenacity, aggressiveness and unexpected surprises, Unfussy and uncomplicated, just like the music, The Bush League has spent years practicing in old warehouses and storage shed with no heat or A/C using that, using that atmosphere to create a sound that has reflected its surroundings: gritty, raw and real.

Whether it’s taking a Muddy Waters track and mashing it up with a Hendrix turn or Junior Kimbrough and Al Green the hallmark of the band has been taking traditional blues and playing it with a modern flair.

With 5 albums, produced or co-produced by the band and a 6th record to be released in Fall 2020, the band continues to define its sound and style on its own terms and as independently as ever.
