Biography
Unlike most bands, Sex And Violins was never meant to be a band at all. Lynn Sorensen (lead vox / bass/ violin) and Jeff Kathan (drums) had been touring the world with legendary rock vocalist Paul Rodgers (Free, Bad Company, The Firm, Queen) as the rhythm section in his solo band. 18 year old Ian Crawford (guitar) had been playing with Jeff and Lynn in Seattle radio station KZOK’s band Spike And The Impalers.
In the summer of ’06, Shane Valdez of Realm Films out Las Vegas recruited the three to record music for upcoming feature film projects. Lynn and Ian’s ability to write naturally with flowing counterpoint lines between guitar and bass coupled with Jeff’s natural groove made forming a band and making a CD the only choice. At Digital Insight Studios in Las Vegas, Sex And Violins was born.
By December of ’06 SAV were shooting the video for the title track Sex And Violins. It was directed by Shane’s son Ryan Valdez (Panic At The Disco, Tool, Nora Jones, Jet) on film in two days on location in Las Vegas. With high energy and raw passion, this video gives you a unique visual look into the compulsion that drives a young woman's sexual appetite to the point where she must take the trophy at all costs. And take it she does!
In March of this year Ian was picked up by Atlantic recording artist The Cab. Lynn and Jeff went on tour through Europe and the US with Paul Rodgers for the summer. Off the road Lynn spent every spare second finishing all the vocals, mixing and mastering in his home studio in Seattle. This CD is truly “hot off the press”
