EARWIG MUSIC RELEASES ANOTHER COLLECTION OF DEEP CATALOG

"This latest collection of albums from AirPlay Direct 2022 “Iconic Innovator”, Michael Frank of Earwig Music, continues to showcase the label’s variety of genres, styles, artistic approaches and repertoire. Earwig appreciates the on-going support and opportunity provided by AirPlay Direct to broaden the global audience for our deep catalog.
Bea & Baby Records vol 1-b is our featured disc this month. It offers late 50's Chicago blues at its finest by Eddie Boyd, Detroit Jr. and Little Mac, plus an odd rant by T. Valentine! Early on Earwig concentrated on middle-aged and elder bluesmen, important but under-represented in recordings and live performance. The Bea & Baby tracks, along with the Earwig 16th Anniversary Sampler featuring original songs by these artists not found on other labels.
Andy Cohen and Scott Ellison have different approaches to the blues in their guitar styles and their repertoire, though they both
played with their elders a lot early on. Andy is a master guitarist, traditionalist to his core, playing pre-WWII blues and old time folk music, with a few of his own tunes thrown in for good measure, on unamplified acoustic stringed instruments. Scott, in contrast, is a fine electric blues guitarist leading his blues band, playing his own well-crafted tunes, with a few well-chosen covers. Andy’s Small But Mighty Songs for Growing People features Andy’s finely aged blend of folk blues; Scott’s Ice Storm shows off his hot contemporary licks and lyrics.
The Gospel Trumpets, Jim Brewer, Louisiana Red, Travis Haddix and Corky Siegel round out our picks this month, truly music for any moment on any given day. Thanks for listening, thanks for sharing our love of the music.
