NASHVILLE, TN (January 5, 2011) – AirPlay Direct announces the hiring of Dan Bowen to the position of VP of Radio Strategies at AirPlay Direct. In the role, Bowen oversees all radio relations and initiatives for the global digital-to-radio music delivery platform.

“Dan not only brings an impressive pedigree to the table, but his enthusiasm and ability to execute at a very high level make him a great addition to our team,” states AirPlay Direct CEO, Robert Weingartz. “We are excited to have him onboard and welcome his strong relationships with radio peers, senior-level music industry executives, artist managers, booking agents, corporate marketers and trade industry leaders.”

Bowen is an accomplished music and broadcast media executive with more than 26 years of experience in the entertainment industry. Prior to his hiring at AirPlay Direct, Bowen served as VP/Strategic Marketing & Communications for the Country Music Association in Nashville, overseeing advertising, marketing and promotion programs, national consumer research studies, digital media, strategic development and media relations for the 6,000-member trade organization.

Prior to that, he served as Program Director for Jefferson-Pilot / Lincoln Financial Media’s WSTR (Star 94)/Atlanta, where during his 11-year run his programming and branding skills propelled the property to 40 consecutive ratings periods as the No. 1 or 2 radio station in audience reach and among the top five in ratings among adult women. That success resulted in Star 94 achieving huge cash flow increases, ranking it among America’s three-highest revenue stations in the format. Bowen’s guidance shaping air personalities, promotions and positioning led Star 94 to receiving two NAB Marconi Awards, the industry’s highest honor, as well as earning programming honors for five straight years in his own right.

Bowen’s background also includes PD responsibilities for Denver’s KWMX, KHHT and KQKS, the latter two being new stations for which he was the chief programming architect. His experience also includes a decade at then-Nationwide Communications’ WNCI/Columbus, OH, overseeing the top-rated station’s marketing and promotions before advancing to further duties in music and programming.

Committed to community service, Bowen has lent his time and energy to numerous civic and public service organizations including Easter Seals, CMA’s Keep The Music Playing initiative and statewide associations involved in cancer research and children’s healthcare.

Based in the Nashville area, where he lives with his wife Dawn and two children, Bowen is a graduate of the Leadership Music Development program and holds a B.S. in Communications from Ohio University.
