Biography
From the heartland of California, these four life-long friends and band mates bring their combined passion for music to the stage and studio, to artfully weave their view of life experiences into witty and meaningful lyrical journeys. The powerful combination of toe tapping acoustics and smooth spellbinding harmonies are a style all their own and make for a potent cocktail known as… Poor Man’s Poison.

Driven by true passion… Poor Man’s Poison brings their collective background of Rock, Reggae, Indie, Hip-Hop and Metal to this new mesmerizing brew. The group shifted into today’s folk sound, a masterful acoustic blend which showcases their melodic harmonies and instrumentals of folk, country and Americana, likened to passionate Appalachian bluegrass. At first listen you’ll be swept away with Poor Man’s Poison’s vocal harmonies, yet each member’s voice is their collective strength, as they put their heart and soul into every song. Every step along their musical journey, Poor Man’s Poisons’ footsteps leave their audiences and listeners with a lasting impression.

The song writing of their debut album “Poor Man’s Poison” relates equally to the seafaring soul with “At The Winds Will”, the poor man and the forlorn with “Slow It Down”, yet puts the greedy man in his place with “Greedy Man”, PMP’s sage advice with “The Devils Price”, to the toe tapping beckoning call of “River Song”. The groups’ consistent flow of excellent songwriting has been the perfect recipe to their swift success.

Poor Man’s Poison is currently in the studio putting the finishing touches on their next mixture of songwriting excellence and harmonies on “Friends With The Enemy,” due to be released Fall 2011.

Poor Man’s Poison are: Ryan Hakker – Vocals and Guitar, Mike Jacobs – Vocals and Guitar, Tommy McCarthy – Vocals and Mandolin, Dustin Medeiros – Vocals and Upright Bass.

Hooked! by KaliC
This has been the only CD I've listened to for the past 2 months. I was hooked a soon as I pressed play. I haven't been this excited about a group since I discovered Grateful Dead in high school. Solid music and clever lyrics. (And they harmonize better than The Dead of course) They sound like they've been playing together for years -I don't know why it took me so long to find them.
