Awake in the Wake
Awake in the Wake
Tony Kamel / Billy Bright

Verse 1
On a dreary night, in the first days of summer
The rain bore down
It came like a wave, as big as a mountain
And landed on a sleepy little town
The banks of the river, risen o’er the trees
That stood 40 feet from the ground
And all in its path was lifted and taken
And twisted, and shaken around

Chorus
Such a beautiful sight, and 10 feet arouf
With roots running deep in the ground
When an old cypress tree snaps like a twig
It makes such an awful sound

Verse 2
They say time went by for 1000 years
‘For the land had ever seen
Such a grand display of earthly power
Wipe a river clean

Chorus
