Texas
Texas
Robin Bernard / Dominic Fisher
Verse 1
Following the Brazos River down to Mexico
I am a wanted outlaw and I’ve got nowhere else to go
Running from a bank job that I did in Ohio
When lady luck and aces full put me back out in the cold
Verse 2
I spent the night in a mission filled with hungry ghosts and stone
Not far from the border in a town called San Antone
I woke up to a ruckus and it chilled me to the bone
My pistol drew and bullets flew but I was all alone
Verse 3
Crossing the nueces river westbound with a heard
I signed on with a drover and I took him at his word
The evening came on quiet, and my guilty heart did stir
To see the sun go sinking past the point of no return
Verse 4
Sold the cattle in Del Rio, collected all my pay
I stared across the Rio Grande and I wished that I could stay
This side of the border where they live the Texas way
But I’ll travel on a branded man in sorrow all my day
