Mark Carman - If Jesus Was On Facebook 3:57
May 30, 2012 -- If Jesus Was on Facebook, Would You Add Him as Your Friend? That's the question being asked in a new song released by producer/songwriter Mark Carman. Mark Carman is not (necessarily) a performing artist anymore. He typically stays in the background guiding and pushing others toward the spotlight. However, in the past few weeks, in the wake of all the controversy surrounding the initial public offering by facebook, the song, written more than 4 years ago suddenly started receiving a lot of attention. One particular group, faithlovehope.comapparently found the song on Youtube and posted it on its website. The latest tally indicates than more than 16,000 facebook "shares" along with hundreds of positive comments by this one group. According to Nick Baird, Marketing Director for MCM World Media, once this activity came to his attention he called Mark and directed him to his own Facebook page where he was personally monitoring the share counter, observing roughly 700 shares per hour. Baird said, "Mark actually recorded the song as a demo and never intended to release it on himself. In fact, it took me a couple days to convince him but he finally gave us a green-light".

Carman has a 2nd home in the Philippines where he is actively involved in community project and has been the driving force behind an initiative to build two orphanages in the Mindanao region of that country. In 2011 Carman orchestrated a project which includes many of the top names in the Nashville music scene for the purpose of raising money to build the facilities. That project is called "Working on a Building" and features performances buy Trace Adkins, Alan Jackson, George Jones, T Graham Brown, Glen Campbell, Jimmy Fortune, Marty Raybon, Buddy Jewell and Jason Crabb.

According to Mark Carman, all of the proceeds from the "Working on a Building" project will go to the building fund. However, the proceeds from this release, "If Jesus was on Facebook" will go to the operational expenses of the orphanages where the ongoing need is so great. "It takes about $2800.00 to feed, clothe and provide care foe the 125 kids we care for. Hopefully we,ll be able to take this fun little tune and bring in some money to help with that. It's only a dollar but a dollar goes a long way in that world where they have so little", said Carman.

The song, "If Jesus Was on Facebook, Would You Add Him as you Friend?" has been released on the MCM World Media Label and is available for purchase on itunes, amazon, rhapsody, emusic and other retailers.
