The Devil Borrowed My Boots
It was a Saturday night, I was staying put
Head buried in my latest book
As the sandman called, I heard a knock
I thought 'Who could that be? I'm just knitting these socks'
Almost slipped on my fresh scrubbed floor
When I came out to see who was knocking on my door
Who could it be? To my surprise,
The devil stood there before my eyes
Said 'You wanna hit the town?'
I said 'Go away' and turned on my heel to my room to pray
As I left and faded out of sight,
The devil borrowed my boots last night
Took off in my boots and went to town, went and caused a scene
Don't be fooled by the boots, that wasn't me
I can only go now from what I'm told
Let's just say the devil wasn't good as gold
Shots of whiskey at the bar
Yelling at the band that they'd never go far
Just when people thought that the devil had left-
Nope, outside lighting up a cigarette
Took off in my boots and went to town, went and caused a scene
Don't be fooled by the boots, that wasn't me
Then the devil came back and found a corner alone
Started necking with Johnny Jones
I guess the devil thought that was fun to do
'Cause then the devil necked with Jedd Jones, too
But y'all who think that was me, y'all ain't right
The devil borrowed my boots last night
