Bulan Boy

Bulan Boy is written by Johnathan Keeton of Valeria, KY. The song tells the story of a coal mining family who endures hardships. When the father dies, and the oldest son has to go to the mines to keep his family from starving. In doing this, he seals his fate and must remain in the small coal camp of Bulan for the rest of his life. He goes through the motions of recapping his life in a nursing home nearby in his final days. It is a sad, but true narrative that was played out in Appalachia several times.
