It was circumstantial evidence that brought me here tonight
I did’nt want to stay at home I can’t stand a lonely night
So set me up and start the band and let them play till dawn
Circumstantial evidence brought me here alone
I did not know just what to say when she asked me about her
She did’nt blink an eye when I did’nt say a word
Although my silence was not from guilt she took it as that way
Her evidence had just become what I did’nt say
She found no proof of red lipstick on my collar oh so white
She knew I had an alibi of where I was last night
The only bit of evidence that she could use in court
Was the kind that don’t stand up to well the circumstantial sort
It was Circumstantial……
She did’nt need a judge, I did’nt get a trial
She sentenced me and convicted me on the words of my denial
I had no chance to give a plea or bargain for remorse
My sentence was the loss of love I’d chosen to ignore
