Song review of Crack in the Wall
Release Date April 21,2020

Overall Impression:
Canadian based singer/songwriter Wayne Madder describes the feelings of waking up to realize that you are involved in a failing relationship, with his shuffling, bittersweet Blues number Crack In The Wall. As Madder begins a steady guitar riff and relates waking up to see a crack in the wall, he describes how he tries to go about his normal morning routine, while being unable to shake a nagging feeling that he relates while repeating the lines, "I think your love is failing me". Then as a haunting wurlitzer joins in the chorus, Madder rhetorically asks his lover, why they have such a strong effect on his very existence? And asks how he is unable to walk away from them, when they are constantly hurting him? Even as Madder relates the many times he's been the victim of a dishonest lover, it's obvious in the pained tone of his voice, that he's going to keep trying to make it work, no matter how much it hurts. And as Madder plays a hopeful guitar solo, he again repeats the lines, "I think your love is failing me", as the music fades to a hushed silence, leaving the listener to wonder what will become of our troubled lovers?

Strongest Point(s):
Very emotional delivery in the vocals. Wayne sounds like he is writing from personal experience, not relating someone else's lyrics. The production quality is great all around, with strong, thick bass, a full drum kit, and clean, but also just dirty enough, lead Blues guitar and organ. Mixing and mastering push all of the instruments to their best levels, with a very glued together mix, that just sits really well in a variety of listening environments.

Target Audience Appeal:
For fans of traditional and modern Blues music. Specifically Texas and Chicago style Blues. Emotive & Personable lyrics make the song easy to relate to for people of all demographics. The solid production quality of this track should help push this song out to sync agencies for film and show placement.

Song Review for 'I Need Somebody' released May 21,2020.

Song: I Need Somebody

Overall Impression: Canadian based singer/songwriter/guitarist Wayne Madder brings a wonderful bit of Latin flavored soul, with the release of his single "I Need Somebody." Featuring a sexy, serpentine blues groove that's absolutely perfect for the sensual lyrical themes employed here by Madder, "I Need Somebody" is highlighted by an equally sultry electric guitar lead that bobs and weaves around an agile rhythm section consisting of bass, acoustic guitar, drums and Latin percussion. Madder gives an impassioned vocal performance here, augmented by some soulful background harmonies that add another layer of cool to an already extremely stylish blues track. Wayne Madder's "I Need Somebody" should have broad appeal among soul and blues audiences, thanks to top notch musicianship and polished songwriting.

Strongest Point(s): Excellent production, great mix. Good tonal balance. Outstanding groove, very "in the pocket." Love the Latin flair. Fantastic clean tone on the lead, allows it to sit comfortably in the mix. Vocals sound amazing, great delivery and production there. Lyrics are succinct and to the point. The recording gives the impression of a live performance, which is always a nice quality to have in a blues track. Great job of capturing and distilling the essence of "cool" on this song. It really does have an extraordinary energy about it that's both timeless and provocative. Wonderful job overall, by everyone involved.

Target Audience Appeal: Fans of Blues, Blues Rock, Soul, Latin Soul, Soul Jazz

Song: Angels
Released date: January 18,2022

Overall Impression:
Wonderfully understated and delicately tender in its approach, "Angels" is a wonderfully written folk piece that is superbly performed and affectionately arranged. Wayne Madder lovingly presents his listeners with a song of such substance and heart that you can't help but be taken in by its beautifully expressed ideas and concepts.

Strongest Point(s):
I would usually be wary of the use of natural ambient white noise in certain contexts, but I believe it works really well in "Angel". It acts as a rather warm underlay for the music and gives the song a certain rustic charm that adds to the overall personality of the tune as well as adds a great dash of authenticity to its folk-inspired roots. Wayne gives a truly endearing vocal performance that manages to gracefully envelop the listener in its warm tones and supple qualities with both delicate poise and emotive expression, all the while the lyrics possess a certain down-to-earth quality to them that I'm sure are representative of Wayne's own experiences and undoubtedly touch upon themes that will not only hold a special place in Wayne's heart but will certainly appeal to many listeners alike. Whilst the track predominately focuses on the relationship between Wayne, his guitar, and the lyrics he is conveying, I really like the subtle yet highly effective use of both the piano and strings, these additions serve as a superb touch that really helps compliment the arrangement and enhance the overall experience profoundly.

Area(s) of Improvement:
I believe this to be a very strong track indeed and there's an authenticity to it that is truly compelling, as a result, I don't see any areas that would benefit from any further tweaking. Great stuff!
