Biography
Walt was born in Baltimore, Maryland in the early 1950’s, where he lived in Fell’s Point and Pigtown for a time.
He was introduced to work at an early age of 9 when he and his family were itinerant workers on the farms and vineyards of Central California.
Later, as a teenager, he worked several years on a dairy farm in Carroll County, Maryland.
Walt served in the United States Navy from 1969 to 1973.
He later continued his service as a civilian for the Department of the Navy by working as an Electronic Technician and Broadcast Engineer for 38 years at the United States Naval Academy.
Walt preferred old style country music in his early years, listening to the likes of Hank Williams, Patsy Cline, Johnny Cash and Jim Reeves.
Later in life, he explored the roots of country music by collecting recordings of Vernon Dalhart, Jimmie Rodgers, The Carter Family and many others.
His favorite country group was The Highwaymen; Johnny, Chris, Wille, and Waylon. His favorite female country artist is Texas born, Nanci Griffith.
What he loves about country music is the stories which they tell of the love of country and family; of pride and independence. This song is available on all digital download sites.
