Wild Rose
WILD ROSE
© Walt Cronin 2011
She were a wild rose and she grew up free
And the thorns they’d protect her wherever she’d be
Not a lad in the county could lay claim to her heart
As swift as the wind just as soon she would part
So who broke this young girl’s spirit in two?
So fair and so pretty who’d have done this to you?
And no one came callin’ for she’d always be gone
She’d be pickin’ wildflowers when the sun had gone down
Some would conjecture that not long before
A young man she so loved had gone off to war
His promise was broken that he would return
And the heart of this wild rose did certainly learn
She would not love another, she would never be hurt
Instrumental Break

And the heart of this wild rose did certainly learn
She would not love another nor again she'd be hurt
She would not love another nor again she'd be hurt
She would not love another nor again she'd be hurt
