Ola Belle Reed (1916-2002) was, and continues to be, a major influence on American bluegrass and old-time music. She played legendary versions of traditional songs, but also wrote her own. This song was released on her Ola Belle Reed recording (Rounder 0021) in 1973. I heard this song for the first time a few years ago when my friend Sadie gave me a 4 CD box set of Ola Belle Reed's music. Then KC and I made a pilgrimage to see Ginny Hawker at her home in West Virginia, and at her urging started looking for the right Ola Belle Reed song to sing. – AW
