Davey O. - Ev'ry Single Day
Ev’ry Single Day – a song written in honor of my late father - one of ten children who was raised on an onion farm in the era of the Great Depression. After relocating our family to Buffalo in the early 1960's, he was unable to find work in his trade as a brick layer, so he did what he had to do and took a job as a janitor at a bakery which made Wonder Bread and Hostess Cakes. In the 25 years he worked there, I don't recall him ever missing a day of work. He would go in sick and if his car wouldn't start he would get a ride in with a co-worker, borrow my bicycle or walk. A testament to hard work, sacrifice and selflessness. Despite not making it out of grade school, the smartest man I’ve ever known. The storyline is about a Bethlehem Steel worker, something that is a large part of Buffalo, NY's proud history
