daddy spent a lifetime on the line at saginaw
rollin out new chevrolets he was the proudest man you ever saw
raised himself a family on that single job income
and it was home it was home to me

i never saw my dad more proud than the day i turned 16
he said come on out back son theres something i want you to see
your grandad gave me this ol truck when i was just about your age
and he smiled and handed me the keys

he said she might not be real pretty or fast
but back then they built these rigs to last

this truck was made in america
by the hands of the working man
with all of the pride and skill
kids today just dont understand
the ol girls darn near 50 years old
still runs like the day she was born
they dont build em like that anymore
