Carry the Load
I don’t have any silver,
I don’t have any gold,
All I’ve got’s this old guitar,
And some songs that haven’t sold.
People think that I’m a fool,
Livin’ on the road,
But I don’t know how to stop it,
So, I carry the load.

Yes, I carry the load in my memories,
Sunday mornings ready me to ride
If you carry the load you will know what I’ve been told,
That it’s livin’ with the notion you tried.

Well, I miss not havin’ children,
And most certainly a wife,
But I gave these up so long ago,
It won’t affect my life,
And it’s not that I’m unhappy,
With the seeds that I have sowed,
I just don’t know how to stop it,
So, I carry the load.

Yes, I carry the load in my memories,
Sunday mornings ready me to ride
If you carry the load you will know what I’ve been told,
That it’s livin’ with the notion you tried.
