Biography
Tim McGuire
(full bio which includes short bio)

In 1982 Tim met and married his wife Renae (vocalist, keyboard player) of 32 years , formed a touring band and hit the road. A couple years later they merged their band with a North Carolina outfit. The sum of the merger was called “January Rose”. An energetic country-rock/rock band that toured the east coast. They wrote and recorded their first album, “Alibi” which they released in 1988. The album was well received by listeners and radio stations alike. The band recorded two additional albums and stayed together until 1992 when Tim and Renae decided to move to Nashville, TN.
“Wow! What an education, pretty much for free”, says Tim! “Writers nights and showcases every night. There were really good players everywhere, but the center of the universe was the song. I was blown away by the story tellers. In 1993 the Nashville vibe was sweet.” Tim wrote a dozen songs which he recorded and released in 1998 on Avgar Records. This record “Time For a Change” was a collection of songs from multiple genres. Fans and industry professionals supported the effort even though Tim didn’t tour with that project. “The technical experience I got making that record was wonderful. Working with some A team players and a Grammy award winning engineer - man! How much better can it get?”
Tim worked a five year stint at Gibson guitar where he met some of his best friends to this day. After Gibson Tim worked at a production company on music row for a couple years. “Then one day out of the blue my muse disappeared. Plain and simple! Left me with nothing. It’s funny how something can be a huge part of your life for 40 years and then seem like it doesn’t matter at all. I took it for granted.”
After moving to Charlotte, NC from Nashville, Tim is once again writing and recording music.

"Soul Breeze"

“Soul Breeze”, the new project by veteran singer/songwriter Tim McGuire has been a transforming experience for him. “I watched CNN, FOX, and some sports. And I usually played a round of golf per week. But, no music. “I didn’t listen to any music for a long while. I think it was six years.” Then one day while cutting the grass “Rachel Walks” connected to Tim’s being from somewhere. “It’s the coolest thing, one minute there’s nothing and then all of a sudden there’s an abundance of everything.” Tim wrote two really good songs within an hour that day, his firsts in ten years. It’s been non stop ever since. Tim is writing everyday. His current release “Soul Breeze” is the culmination of this creative time period. “I’m really proud of this project.” “These are the best songs I have ever written.”
The character of “Soul Breeze” is strong. It stands on it’s own. These songs are about real people in real situations. Some happy, some sad, but all trying to achieve positive things. “Hey everything usually works out in the end.” “I have learned more about myself while writing and recording this project than I did in the previous 50 years combined.” “It’s amazing how things look different to me at this point.” “There are songs coming to me from everywhere. And, I’m certainly not taking my muse for granted again.”
Tim played most of the instruments on “Soul Breeze” while also handling the engineering. “It takes the pressure off when I’m the only one wasting my time.” The harmonies are tight. The parts are well orchestrated. The lyrical content is picturesque. And the melodies flow like a mountain stream. “Soul Breeze”- Feel the breeze!!
