Tim Bennett’s As Long As You’re Buying was written a few years back as a wry honky tonk story about losing a job you wished you never had. “I decided to test my voice with this song,” admits Bennett. “I sang it in E instead of the original key I wrote it in, C. It gives the vocal a little more urgency, taking the song out of that sardonic country terrain and elevating it to a barnburner.”

The heat is provided by Rick White’s sizzling electric guitar solos with Hal Ratliff banging on the ivories. Bob Leggett of L.A. Music Critic said on Indie Voice Blog ”With a voice akin to Merle Haggard, Tim Bennett’s music will appeal to Americana and hard-core country fans equally. It has all the elements of Merle’s music, with a down-home feel that begs you to throw your boots on and get up and boogie.”
