I'd like to move to a mountain some day
To just get away
From the streets and the sounds
Of trucks on there routes
And the cities that rage
I'd like to move to a mountain some day

I'd like to give away most that I own
And fill up my home
With a new piece of mind
One you can't find
By taking out loans
I'd like to give away most that I own

I'd like to build me a house from the land
And work with my hands
For all that I have
And all that I give
Which ain't much of a damn
I'd like to build me a house from the land

Maybe I'd raise me a couple of young'n's
and load up my gun and I'll kill what we eat
And grow all the rest
put what's left in jars
Live in the sunshine and sleep 'neath the stars

I'd like to die with peace in my mind
So when it's my time
I can rest easy
And remember me by
A few words well said and scratch
something wise in the stone at my head

And when I am gone I can leave what I made
to all of them young'ns
And the pups of their own
So they can live happy
and continue that way
That I started out on a mountain one day
