The Tree They All Passed By

I went out with our family, a searchin'… for that "perfect" Christmas tree.
One that's tall and oh so full, whose branches… were all quite
symmetrical.
We looked far and we looked wide… but we just could not seem to find,
That "special" one that was just right, for all the… ornaments and the
Christmas lights.
Then from the corner of my eye, I saw this.. Christmas tree… that they all
passed by.

It stood alone there in a field, I must admit.. it wasn't very beautiful.
People looked and just shook their heads, you should‘a… heard all the
unkind things they said!
Now if that tree had eyes and ears… how sad and lonely it must feel,
To be… left behind this time of year and… miss out on all that Yuletide
Cheer.
I knew right then I had to buy that.. Christmas tree… that they all
passed by.

Well… we got that tree and we brought it home, it's in the… corner of our
living room.
It wasn't all that hard to tell… that tree still needed a little help.
We trimmed it here and we trimmed it there… with lots of tender loving care.
Filled all those holes with ornaments…, hung lots of tinsel on each branch.
Now it's the apple of my eye, that.. Christmas tree… that they all passed by.
