American Prayer

Lord, I come to you bringing a prayer for my country
I know You've been there all along the way for this country
You were there when the pilgrims took their first steps on the land
It was You that they prayed to as they knelt upon the sand

Saying, "Lord, we thank You for this place, that You have given us
Now we ask for Your grace, in You we put our trust
You guided us as we crossed the sea
Searching for a life of liberty
Now we ask of You again
Please bless our new home, Amen"

Well, the time finally came for there to be a change in those colonies
Our founding fathers claimed it was finally time to break free... a new country
Before long the revolution spread across the land
They won the war, a new nation founded by Your guiding hand

And they said, "Lord we thank You for this place that You have given us
Now we ask for Your grace, in You we put our trust
You heard our prayers, You saw our need
Now we finally have our liberty
And we ask of you again
Please bless our dear home, Amen"

Now look where we are, we've come so far, a great country
But we still need You, Lord to reign over us in our country
Give us leaders who will govern us with hearts always true
And through every trial I pray that You will see us safely through

And, Lord we thank You for this place that You have given us
Now we ask for Your grace, in You we put our trust
I pray that You would make us always be
A nation full of liberty
Lord, I ask of you again
God, bless America... Amen!
