Far Away
Parked my car and just stared around
Felt like I struck gold somewhere far from the mine
Climbed out and heard the birds singing out loud
I'd been missing that sweet sound for such a long time
I let rush hour fly on by, feeling a million miles away
And there in the meadow, I made up my mind, it was time for my scenery to change

(I had to get)
Far away from the city lights
Where my mind was so much freer to fly
Far away from the rushing life
Where my heart can really take its own time
I can hear Dixie calling me
So from now on I'll stay
Under those wide blue skies
In the countryside far away

Everybody's got somewhere they go,
In their mind when they're feeling out of place
Mine goes back where the wild roots grow
And the chaos seems to disappear without a trace
I can't take the city life no more
So I'm going home
Some opportunities might pass me by
But at least I won't feel so alone

(I've gotta get)
Far away from the city lights
Where my mind was so much freer to fly
Far away from the rushing life
Where my heart can really take its own time
I can hear Dixie calling me
So from now on I'll stay
Under those wide blue skies
In the countryside far away

I understand that some folks do enjoy
All the hustle of a big city life
But I've got roots in the country soil
I couldn't pull away even if i tried
That's why I've got to go back there
So don't try to make me stay
It's time to breathe that 'ol country air
And see all the good folks far away

Far away from the city lights
Where my mind was so much freer to fly
Far away from the rushing life
Where my heart can really take its own time
I can hear Dixie calling me
So from now on I'll stay
Under those wide blue skies
In the countryside far away
