Biography
The Hourglass Effect came about from a serendipitous meeting in a parking lot.
Spotting flame-haired singer Erin clutching a guitar heading to a recording studio, songwriter Drew struck up conversation. It just so happened that Dave was her music teacher at the studio, and together, the three bonded over their shared vision for Drew’s songs.
As soon as Drew heard Erin sing, he began to write with her passionate, arresting voice in mind.Hailing from Charlotte, North Carolina, the group align Southern roots with rock to create unforgettable feel-good tunes, underpinned by a bluesy soul. Merging diverse influences like Neil Young, Fugazi and Lana Del Rey, together they create intoxicating songs that are emotive, expansive and unapologetically North Carolinian.
Tracks like the soaring But Anyways, brooding Man on the Moon and upbeat Crazy (Feels So Good), showcase Erin’s uplifting, soulful vocals and the band’s masterful way of marrying genres and sounds.
The band have picked up radio play from stations across the USA like Star Intl 99.9 FM, Kiss FM 102.5 and Radio Power 77.7FM. While track But Anyways has gained extensive airplay across Latin America’s top Radio Para Llevar stations. They have made the top 50 of the Worldwide Indie Radio Charts and were named Charlotte's band of the week by Charlotte Music.
