Diamond Sky
DIAMOND SKY
by Adam Greuel and Pete Kahn
The night sky can rain down a memory
Pull the mind from a seed in the ground
The wind may blow the doors off the hinges
And the world will spin on without a sound
Play me back that song we heard
Under the goodnight light
Those hours passed from all ears but ours
When it wasn’t so cold in the midwinter doldrums
Underneath the melody of the ever burning stars
Take me to the warm country
Of your welcoming arms in open air
And if I can’t live inside of you like I once did
Give me a space beside you somewhere
Play me back that song we heard
Under the goodnight light
Those hours passed from all ears but ours
When it wasn’t so cold in the midwinter doldrums
Underneath the melody of the ever burning stars
Folded light through the window glass
Frosted dust floats free to roam
Each speck a diamond, a dancing sun
The stars on your skin are the map to my home
Play me back that song we heard
Under the goodnight light
Those hours passed from all ears but ours
When it wasn’t so cold in the midwinter doldrums
Underneath the melody of the ever burning stars
