Biography
The Godz are an American hard rock band from Columbus, Ohio led by Eric Moore. Formed in 1976, they have released eight albums and toured with artists such as KISS, Metallica, Cheap Trick, Judas Priest, The Outlaws, Angel, Blue Oyster Cult, American Dog, Pat Travers, and so many more. Armed with a brand new album, LAST OF THE OUTLAWS (released April 3, 2012), The Godz continue to add to a loyal fan base that reaches all corners of the globe.
Originally, The Godz consisted of Moore on bass guitar, Mark Chatfield on guitar, Mike Adams on keyboards and two drummers, Hayward Law and Glen Cataline. But tragedy struck early on when Law and Adams lost their lives in an April 1976 car accident near Parkersburg, West Virginia. Following a period of grieving, Moore called upon guitarist Bob Hill from his earlier band the Capital City Rockets and the classic Godz lineup was born.
While a long line of notable musicians have been members of The Godz, Eric Moore has been the mainstay, but not always on bass guitar. In 1999, he switched to rhythm guitar and for a short time played under the name, Eric Moore & The Godz, with American Dog as the backing band (Michael Hannon - bass, Steve Theado - guitar, and Keith Pickens - drums). Moore continued on rhythm guitar with Bub Adams on bass for the next ten years. Guitarist Nikki Storm was on board for much of that time as well. But it was Hannon, Theado and Pickens who performed on the 2003 Godz release, 25 Moore Years.
In the latter part of 2009 when Eric Moore made the decision to play bass again. He still planned to do a handful of songs on guitar but needed someone willing to switch off with him. Vinnie Salvatore was recruited to fill the role, replacing both Bub Adams and Ronnie Hughes (guitar, vocals). The plan to switch instruments was put on hold and Salvatore played guitar for all of 2010. Fans responded accordingly to seeing and hearing Moore back on bass full-time, sparking The Godz to their most success in recent years.
The Godz new album, "LAST OF THE OUTLAWS," released on CD April 3, 2012.
