Sunlight Stream
SUNLIGHT STREAM
Shimmering sunlight stream on a
Carolina mountain evening
Holy water rolling through the boulders and the trees
I can hardly believe what I’m seeing
It’s the only kinda churchin’
A man like me could ever need
Yeah you could take my breath away
and strike me dead right here
Let me die a happy man
Green leaves slipping through the seasons
Whole world’s tearing at the seams when
Everybody’s hiding from disease and
Bleaching and cleaning and trying not to breathe in
Meanwhile way out where the wild winds blow
It don’t mean a Goddamn thing
So carry my flesh and my blood and my bones
Lay me on these ancient stones
And let me sink in
Oh let me sink right in
Chickadees darting through the trees honey
Hummingbirds floating on the breeze baby
Silly words for the birds and the bees
And all them horny **** creatures making all them babies
Well it’s all going on all around you
Feast upon it with your eyes and ears
Out here it all seems so sweet and simple
But we know life gets complicated
It’s enough to bring a man to tears
So I let those teardrops fall into that
Sunlight stream on a
Carolina mountain evening
Holy water rolling through the boulders and the trees
I can hardly believe what I’m seeing
It’s the only kinda churchin’
A man like me could ever need
So carry my flesh and my blood and my bones
Lay me on these ancient stones
And let me sink in
Yeah you could take my breath away
And strike me dead right here
Let me die a happy man
