Garden
I’d never touched the surface,
I’d never dug around,
In any place that I had ever found,
Cause the weeds were always growing,
Up through all the cracks in the ground.

But in my heart was yearning,
A need to settle down,
To lay my roots here and now,
Though the world may be broken,
I’ll be in the ground planting seeds.

With everything I sow,
I learn to let it go,
Don’t know if it will grow or it’ll fall.
But soon the rain will come,
Followed by the sun.
Planting seeds.

This garden fills a picture,
With colors bright and bold,
From daffodils to lilies, how they glow.
From the dead of the winter to the spring,
They’ll promise to show.

I see the trees above me,
Their roots so far below,
With every year another ring to show.
Will we ever see the reason?
Maybe I’ll never know.

With everything I sow,
I learn to let it go,
Don’t know if it will grow or it’ll fall.
But soon the rain will come,
Followed by the sun.
Planting seeds.

I hope that when I’m older,
My children come to know,
The reason why I planted to deep below,
In all of my efforts,
Laying down the path to come and go,
To come and go,
Planting seeds
