Biography
My interest in music started when I was about 5 years old, listening to my uncle Kenny play with his bluegrass band. I started playing guitar myself, when I was 15 years old (now 68) playing with local school friends in California. I wrote my first song in 1972, about my first daughter before gender was known beforehand. Supporting my family was my first priority, and since I was insecure about my song writing anyhow, I never did anything with my songs or played professionally.
In 2005, I moved to Louisiana, and sometime later was playing with a bluegrass band called Down home bluegrass. During this time is when I wrote Pickin’ on Jesus. My inspiration came from realizing I now had the opportunity to share my testimony. I wanted to share how Jesus changed my life from drinking and playing music in bars to becoming saved and writing and performing in local churches for Jesus. It brought me such joy to be afforded the opportunity to tell folks about what Jesus did for me. My confidence grew and after writing many songs, I decided to take a leap of faith and sent, I’m pickin’ on Jesus to Curt Ryle. Well he liked it, produced it and signed me with black Ribbon Records. I now have a 7 song EP and more songs releasing soon.
Thank you for your interest and support of my music,
Terry LeMaster
