For the Love of the Game
For the Love of the Game (Bo Isaac) Bo: “I wrote that when I was about 18, and kept adding to it down through the years.” John: “Bo used to sing that with the Bo Isaac Band but our producer, Don Rigsby, thought it was a better fit for my voice.” The melody, subject matter, and vocal treatment of the verses evokes Grayson & Whitter’s 1928 “I’ve Always Been a Rambler.” John and Bo’s duet on the chorus borrows from the Louvin Brothers’ “Cash on the Barrelhead” from 1956.
