Biography
Stone Rain is a Los Angeles based fiercely independent two man rock band that features Brian Rooker on Guitars, keyboards, and percussion and Mark Kintis on lead vocals. We have been writing and performing original music together since 2000, and have recently released our second CD: "Second Sight". Our first album “that was now (this is zen)” is also available on CD Baby.
This record was a blast to record and to produce, and we hope you enjoy it as well.
Brian plays all the instruments that you hear (guitars, keyboards, percussion, etc) and adds counter-lead and background vocals through out the record. He does all the vocals on the song 777, which is an autobiographical account of his wife Teresa's inspirational battle with, and recovery from Cancer. Mark is the lead singer, loud (sometimes) and proud (always).
Our sound is guitar driven with powerful vocals layered over often complex musical passages. It is acoustic based, but with electric guitar edges, overtones, and undertones. We call it “Heavy Middle”.
Our writing style focuses on melody (and counter melody) to provide rock songs that are easy to listen to but with enough musical sub-plots to stand up well to repeated playing. Often complex vocally, lyrically, and instrumentally, we take time (boy do we take time . . .) to add layers of instruments and vocal harmonies to bring out a very full sound that belies the fact that there's only the two of us.
The album art on Second Sight are photos taken by Mark on one of his rim-to-rim Grand Canyon treks. The front cover (and CD label) photo was taken on the South Rim in the early evening during a snow storm. (The white spots are snow flakes reflecting the flash.) The back cover photo captures a trail on the North Rim. Inside the jewel case is a photo of one of the bridges at the bottom.
We'd like to thank all who listen and support the band. It really means a lot to us.
Take care,
Brian and Mark
Stone Rain
