Mary, the Mother of Jesus
Mary, the Mother of Jesus,
Bowed to the Lord and prayed,
For the message of the angel Gabriel
Was, “Mary, Do not be afraid.”
In her heart she exalted the Lord,
His favor was hers on that day,
And Mary, the Mother of Jesus,
Found these words in her heart to pray:
“My soul magnifies the Lord,
My spirit takes wing at His word.
This child of mine shall be Jesus,
The Most High, the Son of the Lord.”
The goodness of Mary was blessed
Though, in her heart, she pondered her fate.
“I am a handmaiden of the Lord,
He exalted my lowly estate.”
Mary, the Mother of Jesus,
Gave to us, her son who was born
In a manger with God watching o’er them,
Long ago on that first Christmas morn….
Long ago
On that first
Christmas morn.
