Biography
Steven Moore is a banjo virtuoso who is best known as one of the most prolific contest players in the younger generation of bluegrass musicians. He has won 1st place in the USA National Bluegrass Banjo Championship twice, as well as placing 1st in the RockyGrass, RenoFest, MerleFest, FreshGrass, and Carolina in the Fall banjo competitions. Steven also was a past winner of the StarQuest National Talent Competition, bringing his act to Jamboree in the Hills - the "Super Bowl of Country Music" - for a crowd of over 100,000!
Steven tours regularly with the Grammy- and Emmy-nominated artist David Mayfield (formerly of Cadillac Sky) in his band The David Mayfield Parade. Steven also performs occasionally with John Cowan's Newgrass All-Stars and with Evan Felker of the Turnpike Troubadours. Steven frequently records banjo on other artists' projects and has appeared on a number of successful works, including Elliott Park's hit Kids' Song "Baby Snake" with an award-winning music video that has been viewed over a million times since its upload to YouTube in 2018.
With the release of his debut solo album "Just a Little Talk with Myself" on September 16, 2022, Steven hopes to share with listeners some of his beautiful original music and creative arrangements of traditional tunes and cover songs. Steven hopes that releasing this album will help to grow his listener base, as well as to develop his network among bluegrass industry professionals.
"Just a Little Talk with Myself" features the amazing talents of Stuart Duncan (The Goat Rodeo Sessions, Nashville Bluegrass Band), Byron House (formerly Sam Bush Band), Cody Kilby (The Travelin' McCourys, formerly Ricky Skaggs & Kentucky Thunder), and James Seliga (Billy Droze), with appearances by Chris Brown (Sam Bush Band), John Cowan (The Doobie Brothers, formerly New Grass Revivial), Gaven Largent (The Dan Tyminski Band), David Mayfield (formerly Cadillac Sky), Elliott Park (a #1 Billboard and R&R magazine songwriter), Chris Sexton (Nothin' Fancy), Rosa Vestal, and Scott Vestal (formerly Sam Bush Band). The album was produced, recorded, mixed, and mastered by Scott Vestal at his Digital Underground Recording Studio in Greenbrier, TN.
