Cowboy Blue
Cowboy Blue

I was singin songs in a smokey bar
thinkin I oughta be a nashville star.
I'd write a good song and off I'd go
I'd be the hottest thing on music row.
I tried real hard to make em see
that the music city needed me.
But they didn't share my point of view
they sent me back home cowboy blue.

(Chorus)
When your truck won't start and your horse goes lame
when the fire goes out and it starts to rain.
When your dog won't hunt you got nothing to lose
then you know your cowboy blue. I wrote a song and I took it to town
but all they could do was put me down.
They said I was gonna have to pay my dues
said you ain't got nothing boy that we can use.
I was holed up at home alickin my
wounds smokin cigarettes and watching cartoons.
There ain't much else an old dog can do
when you got a case of cowboy blue.

Chorus

Old slim dropped by just to say hello
said Im going down town boy you want to go.
I said hey good buddy I hate to refuse
but I'm stove up with the cowboy blues.
I worked all week and they said I got paid
I was out all night and she said I got laid.
Now I wondering how that could be true
my pockets are empty and I'm cowboy blue.

Chorus
