story behind the song:
This is a story about a fictitious character named Danny who not only works hard, but plays hard. The story not only paints a picture of being trapped in a small "run-down town" with little options, but also of an internal struggle within himself. The struggle between making good decisions versus reckless ones. As the song progresses we learn that Danny has lost his father and three close friends all within the past year. This could be the trigger that set off his careless behavior. The story ends with some ambiguity as we never find out if he finds the path to the straight and narrow or if he falls off the edge.
