Biography

Musician, singer/ songwriter, Stephanie Dawn was born in Calgary Alberta in 1987. From a very young age music has been an immense source of happiness and inspiration for Stephanie. Inspirations vary from artist to artist. Who knows what will capture the soul of the creative mind. Johannes Kepler, the 18th century mathematician and astronomer was led to his discovery that the planets move in elliptical paths around the sun because of his passion for musical harmonies. It doesnt matter how great the creative impetus is -- what is rooted in the artists mind as memorable and magical is what is important. For Stephanie one of her first memories is singing and dancing to Roseanne Cash and Tennessee Flattop Box at the age of two. In as much as Stephanie has always had a passion for traditional country music she is passionate about all music and her work shows hints of many of these influences. She loves anything she can sing and/or dance to. As a child Stephanie was fortunate enough to study classical piano with two very reputable teachers, but it was not until she met and began studying with well known Canadian keyboard player Mike Little (George Canyon) that she realized the magic of what she was doing. So at eighteen, with the encouragement and strong support from Mike and her family and her desire to learn all she could she was off to study music at Grant MacEwan University in Edmonton. In 2009 she returned to Calgary and joined the local Calgary band, Bowriver as keyboard player and one of two lead vocalists. In this time she has played over 500 shows in and around Calgary. For the past couple of years Stephanie has focused on writing. Most recently she has had the opportunity to write together with Mike Little and Chris Byrne of Calgary. Currently Stephanie has just released her debut EP, Hardly Workin', which is available on iTunes now.
