Somebody's Dream
Somebody’s Dream

An old filling station on top of the hill covered with weeds and vines
The pumps are all rusted the gas is all gone the ravages of time
But there’s one thing for certain, one thing that I know
This was somebody’s dream, somebody’s life, somebody’s way that they survived
Took all of their heart to make it go. I know sometime long ago
This was somebody’s dream

A little old lady sits on her swing watching the cars go by
She’s thinking about all the love in her life, a tear comes to her eye
But there’s one thing for certain, one thing that I know
She was somebody’s dream, somebody’s life, somebody’s way that they survived
Took all of their heart. They loved her so. I know sometime long ago
She was somebody’s dream

The condition of life is that things are always changing
The illusion is that they could ever stay the same
Don’t you try to go back because you can never stay there
You gotta learn to live each day for what it brings

Sometimes in the evening we go up the stairs to kiss the girls goodnight
We find all their babies, we tuck em in bed. Don’t let those bed bugs bite
But there’s one thing for certain, one thing that I know
This is my dream. This is my life. This is the way that I survive
Takes all of my heart to make it go. I thank God he made it so
This is my dream
