Too Rock Too Country
Too Rock Too Country

I was born down in the corner in Southwest Arkansas
and I loved that country music those steel guitars and all
then I went on off to college and joined a rock-n-roll band
started chasin fame, I was losin my twang, it all got out of hand

I got too rock for country - way too country for rock
my home town church kicked me out - my grandma was in shock
I went to my physician and said please can you help me doc?
he said , “you're way too rock for country, son you're way too country for rock”

when I got out of college I wanted to sell my songs
So I moved on off to Memphis but that didn't last too long
When producers listen to me everyone of them said STOP!

Drum beat

“You're way too rock for country, you're way too country for rock”

I was way to rock for country - way too country for rock
I was big ole ball of confusion - rollin down the block
I called up Dr. Phil and he said,
“after taking stock I conclude - you're way too rock for country - and way too country for rock”

I dreamed I was on Star Trek up in the Enterprise
I was playing songs for Captain Kirk, Scotty and the guys
when I got finished playing, I looked up at Mr. Spock
“he said logically, you're much to rock for country - you're way to country for rock”

way too rock for country - way too country for rock
way too rock for country - way too country for rock
I spent forty-four years fightin labels and I ain't gonna stop
cause I'm way too rock for country - way too country for rock

way too rock for country - way too country for rock
way too rock for country - way too country for rock
You can call me any thing you want but I ain't gonna stop

Drum beat/claps

Cause I'm way to rock for country
Way ….too..... country..... for …...rock
