Biography
Soul Food Café is the new project from session vocalist and songwriter Angie Turnbull. She has worked with artists including Rob Da Bank, The Bays, Elvis Costello, Sheryl Crow, The Brothers of Invention, The Karoshi Brothers, Dominic King, Dan Mckie and The BBC. She enjoyed success with her new wave band Red Letter Suits with releases through Rough Trade and airplay on Radio 1, 2 and BBC 6 and two four month tours across the country. Returning to her underground roots she has recently returned from a five and half month European tour with performances at the major festivals in France, Spain, Portugal and Italy. Continuing her session singing work in April 2013 she released “Fascinated” along with Pacha DJ and producer Dan McKie. The single was a massive hit with support from Steve Aoki (Dimmak), Markus Schulz, Roger Sanchez, Akira Kiteshi (Radio 1 Asian Network), Shane Patrick (Ministry Of Sound Resident) amongst others.
One of the best live experiences was her performance for Rob Da Banks Show with The Bays at Radio 1’s Maida Vale Studios. The performance was an improvised dance session with a live audience and was broadcast on Radio 1, very frightening but exciting. Angie also worked as a session vocalist along side Elvis Costello and Sheryl Crow for the BBC Sold on Song project.
