Love of a Hometown Girl
Until the early part of the 20th century, Newfoundland fisherman would spend all summer fishing on Coastal Labrador (Down on the Labrador). Those that had a cabin on the land were called "planters" and those that lived all summer on their schooners were known as "floaters". This song celebrates the people of Green Bay, NL, my ancestors, who lived that lifestyle. My family were "floaters".
