I try to be happy
I try to be glad
But the evening news just makes me so mad

As they tell me about
Our America

Send our boys off to war
Our brothers and our sisters
What are they fighting for
Used to be so much more

Back when we were good
And we were needed
But now we seem so defeated

Take a step to the left, but lean to the right

They said it would be good
Just give it some time
But now the jobs and the money
Seem to be fading out of sight

Now its hard to tell wrong from right

Seems politicians and Hollywood
They have their own agenda
Go ripping up our rights
Don’t care who gets offended
And lie to our faces every day
