Hillbilly Santa Claus
It was 100 years ago this evening, on a snowy Christmas Eve
My great granddad had a run-in with Santa Claus and all them deer
They were lost in Crystal Holler, and with a handshake it was done
Santa made himself quite clear, I’m gonna leave them gifts right here
And from these mountains I’ll steer clear

The snow is falling in the mountains, I set out with horse and sleigh
Spreading gifts to friends and loved ones. I’ll be home on Christmas day
Old Saint Nick don’t come around here, out of fear he might get lost
Over mountains, through the valleys. I’m hillbilly Santa Claus

I took the path to Crystal holler. I had toys and candy for the kids
A winter coat for widow Baker, who lives alone on Possum Ridge
All night long I deliver presents, and spread my Christmas cheer
With my presents in my sack, I mark my Christmas path, so I know I can make it back

Now the moon is shining brightly, and my Christmas deed is done
I know mom and kids are waiting for their daddy to come home
We’ll all sing in celebration for the gift of God’s own son
Unto a virgin Christ was born, he suffered and died alone, to be the savior of the world
