Silas Powell and the Powell Family Band are a three generation Bluegrass band from the hills of West Virginia. The star of the show is 15 year old mandolin prodigy Silas Powell. Under the close supervision of his mentor, Mike Compton, Silas has become a master of Monroe style mandolin. Silas along with his father Josh Powell, and his grandfather Jeff Powell make up one of the most exciting trios in Bluegrass music today! You take Silas’s mandolin and fiddle skills, Josh’s unique style of upright bass, Jeff’s impeccable guitar skills, and couple that with tight family harmonies and you have a recipe for one fantastic album! Hard times is The Powell Families' first studio album and it’s chocked full of original tunes as well as a few traditional Bluegrass standards. So please sit back, relax, and take a listen we promise you won’t be disappointed!
