About Shawn....

Shawn Zuke grew up in Fairbanks, Alaska, where she bore witness to the most extreme environmental conditions--from the dark cold winter nights to the long summer days of the midnight sun. Her early life fostered the lifelong earth reverence that is conveyed through her music.

She attended North Pole high school and earned her NDE inspector certification in her twenties. She used her education, experience, and Alaskan sensibilities to acquire a rotational job that would empower her to seek adventures in music and travel in her time off—visiting Europe and Asia; as well as Central, South, and North America. The evidence of unity she found in the cultures and spiritual practices throughout her travels led her to express herself in the universal language of music.

Shawn’s first folk album, “Of the Light,” released in 2002, laid the etheric-music foundation upon which she would later apply trance techno, bluegrass, rock, folk, and world music influences--the treasures of her travels—that create her unique and modern sound.

Zuke has toured the West Coast as both a solo artist and with various Alaska-based bands. She is presently spearheading a program called Shanti Chakras, which combines Chakra Mandala Prison Artwork and Shawn’s Healing Music inspired by the 7 Chakras, as a powerful healing modality for both prisoners and the public with whom they seek healing and atonement. Shawn also put together the Alaskan Women Singer/Songwriter for Inner Peace CD, the proceeds of which are donated to South Peninsula Haven House, a mission to support and empower women and children impacted by domestic violence.

Zuke’s spiritual influences include Earnest Holmes, Esther Hicks, Ekhart Tolle, and Patricia Cota Robles. Her musical influences include Ben Harper, Jill Scott, Jessica Hoop, and Libby Kirkpatrick. Her early musical influence, a singer to whom she has been compared in both style and sound, is Fleetwood Mac’s Stevie Nicks.

She now resides in Homer, Alaska, deemed the cosmic hamlet by the sea, where she enjoys sharing her music at the Sunday service at the Center for Spiritual Living and performing with her band Firelight.

The journey of her new release "Undefined" has been in the creative flow manifestation process since 2009. Each song on this project is original in design and musically transcended by the following unique and talented musicians.
