Bluegrass mainstays Shawn Lane and Richard Bennett are back with their new single, “Mountains & Miles” – out now via Bonfire Music Group. This acoustic-driven tune features Lane’s evocative vocals paired with Bennett’s signature effortless guitar work, creating a powerful musical journey that is sure to resonate with fans of Bluegrass and acoustic music alike.


“I love mountains and so does Richard. Mountains have their own ways. They’re powerful and they’re one of the many gifts from God for us to draw comfort from and enjoy,” says Shawn Lane. “We wanted to capture some of the energy mountains have in the feel of a song. I think we did it with ‘Mountains & Miles.’ Grayson’s mandolin work here will take you for miles.”

The new single was written solely by Shawn Lane. Throughout, “Mountains & Miles” captures the feeling of yearning for something that’s always been within reach, using the metaphor of mountains and rural settings to express longing and self-discovery. Lane and Bennett are accompanied by Grayson Lane on mandolin and Jacob McFadyen on bass. The recording serves as the follow-up to the duo’s previous single, “1682” which came out earlier this year. It went on to become a success with fans and DJs alike, spending multiple weeks in the Top Ten of the Bluegrass Today Weekly Airplay Chart. Both musicians look to capitalize on that momentum with the current single.

Shawn Lane remains a defining figure in the genre, best known as a founding member of the multi Grammy-nominated band Blue Highway. Richard Bennett has built an impressive career of his own, performing with Bluegrass icons such as JD Crowe and the New South.
