Thanking God for Her
Happy birthday America
When the jets come flying over my hometown
I’m flush with pride and grateful to be standing on this ground
With ole Glory waving, Her people are still free
As the marching band leads the parade on down through the streets
All across the Nation, this theme rings true
A grand celebration of our past, and promise of a new
That when we stand together, there’s nothing we can’t do
From this small town to that big White House, yeah it’s pretty cool
That’s my America in Her birthday suit
Proudly wearing Her red, white, and blue
We’re all family, friends, and neighbors, fellow countrymen
With our hands on our hearts
Thanking God for Her, Amen
Well, you know I love this country, and humbly believe
That we all gotta do our part to keep Her free
And that sacrifice and service should be honored by all
After all, the blood that ever has been shed was bled for us all
As I’m driving down Main Street
In my hometown, Her spirit is with me
‘Cause there’s nothing like the feeling of coming back home
When you’ve been gone a long while, and your innocence is gone
That’s my America in Her birthday suit
Proudly wearing Her red, white, and blue
We’re all family, friends, and neighbors, fellow countrymen
With our hands on our hearts
Thanking God for Her, Amen
That’s my America in Her birthday suit
Proudly wearing Her red, white, and blue
We’re all family, friends, and neighbors, fellow countrymen
With our hands on our hearts
Thanking God for Her, Amen
Amen
Amen
