Demolition

I used to take things apart to see how they work
And if I could get it all back like before
Most times I could but it wasn’t the same
As before I had torn the thing down
I got a job working on houses
Started with painting and replacing outlets
Tried trim and sheetrock but it wasn’t my thing
And before long my talent was found

Demolition

I rock a crowbar and a sledge and a triple-ply bag
By the time I get home I’m just tired and mad
And I can’t remember what started this fight
Between us but it won’t seem to end

Maybe if I could switch to the business side
There’d be more of me left for my family at night
But nobody’s offering me anything new
So I guess I’ll keep going for awhile

Doing demolition

Someday I’d like to be somebody who
Figures out how things work and can make ‘em like new
But until something changes or something gives way
All that I’m any good for at the end of the day

Is demolition

So if you or your folks need a man for a job
That’s just destroying old things and hauling them off
I guess I'm your man, cause that’s all I do
And you might as well own who you are
